May 5, 2023: Our first attempted adventure ended in failure with us stuck on a farm road 20 minutes from home. The NEW truck clutch had technical difficulties and Anjuli's colleague had to rescue her and Jordan while Bruce waited for the tow truck, which amazingly was able to put our super long truck on the flat bed and tow the fifth wheel at the same time. (Forgive the window glare below - it was a stressful time with Jordan hungry and delirious from a disjointed nap situation on the drive back. I just thought that was amusing that a tow truck could move all of that at once so I had to snap a quick picture).
May 27, 2023: A few weeks after the first attempt, we packed up and hit the road again. Our first successful adventure was about an hour from home to nearby a state park in Vermont, which went off without a hitch (so you'd think we would be safe from truck issues going forward... *cue foreshadowing music*).
We got backed in and setup smoothly. We even pulled out the outdoor mat and picnic table covers... never to be used again. Nothing bad happened, but we just didn't deem them necessary or worth the effort for us at this point. Jordan got to play in the nearby water and the pool. We went on a nice hike and even climbed the fire tower at the top. Lots of flies, but we survived. All-in-all a nice first trip testing out the new equipment and processes at a slower pace. Vermont was officially conquered by The Tiny One. The next adventure took us a little further from home...
