WILDFIRES - While on both our Nova Scotia trip and the 2024 trip. On the Nova Scotia trip, the Eastern US was being smoked out by the large Canadian wildfires, but magically, as we drove to Nova Scotia there was no significant smoke and we pretty much avoided the whole thing since it started right after we left Vermont.

There were many fires along the way in the 2024 season, but Jasper was the worst and the one that derailed our return journey plans from Alaska. You just need to stay flexible in areas prone to wildfires and know alternate routes available and keep checking for updates.
HAIL STORM - During the summer of 2024, we stored our truck and RV in Calgary for 5.5 weeks. When we returned, we were informed that they had a hail storm there a few days earlier. Luckily the RV didn't have any significant damage, but the truck hood and rooftop of the cab were riddled with small dents and the rubbermaid bin in the truck bed was broken. It cost us our deductible to fix the truck. It could have been worse if it had broken our solar panels or other parts of the RV. At least we weren't out in the storm driving when it occurred.

EARTHQUAKE - While out on the Homer spit in 2024, we got shaken awake by the earthquake in Homer. No damage or any effect, but it goes to show that anything can happen, and that Jordan can sleep through an earthquake.
