BALLOON FIESTA - This one comes as no surprise. What toddler wouldn't love seeing giant balloons in all sorts of fun shapes launch into the sky and fly around everywhere? All the different parts are great, from the early morning pre-sunrise dawn patrol balloon launch, to the mass ascension, to the carnival atmosphere with treats, to the evening balloon glow, drone show, skydivers, and fireworks to end the day. The only thing that would have made it better for us would have been to have an RV site on location. Next time, we will plan ahead for that.

LOST DUTCHMAN STATE PARK - In Phoenix, a very nice campground to run and bike around with easy access to hiking. A short drive away, there is the Goldfield Ghost Town which is a touristy but fun old western town with a little train you can ride around and such things. The Apache trail scenic drive starts nearby as well, which is well worth the drive.

SEWARD - Cheating a little since Kenai Fjords National Park is here too which is awesome for an early hiker, but also the dogsledding, the Alaska sealife center, the path along the water, playgrounds, ice cream. Plenty to do.

LAKE TAHOE - Plenty of places to play by the lakes in the area, playgrounds, and great pizza (our favorite ever).

OREGON COAST - There were a variety of stops, including state parks along the coast. She was able to play in the water and sand in some of the safer areas. The Tillamook factory was a great stop as well to see the cheese being packaged and get some great cheese curds, pizza, and ice cream. Tide pools at Haystack rock were fun. There were numerous viewpoints and enough playgrounds to be found.

WATERLOO, NY - The surprise inclusion on this list! After our unexpected visit to Waterloo for 10 nights on our first cross country trip, we discovered how great it actually was for toddlers. It had everything she wanted: great pizza, ice cream, several amazing playgrounds, a safe biking path, a cheese factory, a nice campground. What more could she want? I'm sure she liked that stop more than what we had originally planned.
