Roadtrippers: This is the website/app we use to figure out the overall route/plan for each trip. It allows you to add different locations/parks to your itinerary and easily rearrange them by dragging and dropping. It tries to be smart and add things where they make sense distance-wise in your plan, though doesn't always get it correct, especially with longer trips that return to the same location like our 2024 trip. It's great for getting a sense of the order that places should go.
Excel: This is where we make a day by day plan of how long each drive is, where we are staying and what hookups are available as well as the cost, is it booked yet, and activities to consider doing while we are there.
Google Maps: A staple in our trip planning. We use this to fill in the travel times, knowing that we need to add time since we drive slower in the RV and make more stops. It is our primary GPS. We download the offline maps ahead of time when needed. We use street view to help figure out parking for lunch and playground stops.
RV Life: We had this for 2024, mainly to use to check road restriction for RV length and height issues, but found it wasn't as helpful as we thought it would be. We discontinued it for next year. Some people online love this though. We just found it to be too clunky.
