70. Temporary RV Storage: How We Do It

In the middle of the 2024 trip, we had to fly home to Vermont to work for 5.5 weeks. So, we had to store the RV somewhere. Given how much time we wanted to stay in certain places and where we were going (Alaska), it made sense to store the RV in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We tried calling months in advance, but they didn't schedule people out that far and told us to call back a couple of weeks prior. When we did that, the place we tried said they were full due to some event in town. Then we got a little worried, but tried a few other places and found an even better place close to the airport that could store both the RV and truck. We had to pay for 2 months since they did it monthly, but that was fine. It cost a couple hundred dollars or so to store both there. We had no issues with getting in and out. The only problem we had was that there was a hail storm a few days before we picked up the truck and RV and so the truck got dinged up pretty badly. Somehow, the RV was ok since it doesn't have a metal roof.

We will have to do the same storage idea this coming summer in 2025 when we leave our stuff out in Salt Lake City when we return to work for the summer once again. Ideally, we wouldn't have to store the RV like this because then you have to empty the fridge, deal with the water lines/filters, and consider any food stored in the RV, but it is what it is for the time being.
