44. Arrival/Setup Process: How We Do It

A short break from the trip to break down how we set up once we hit a new campsite since we move so often...

• We pull into the campground and stop by the office. Anjuli runs inside and checks in since she makes all the reservations and Bruce is driving.

• We review the path to the campsite to avoid wrong turns.

• We have walkie talkies to communicate while Bruce backs in (or even pulls through) at the site. We make sure the slides are clear to fully open without hitting trees, the picnic table, or the utility post.

• We try to be as close to the utilities as we can, prioritizing the sewer length if we plan to dump. It's annoying to have to take out the extra hose segments to extend the length. Our water hose is plenty long and the electric usually isn't a problem, but we have an extension 30 amp cord if we need it. We don't need full 50 amp power.

• We have a levelmate pro so we can make sure we are close to level right to left and will go up on blocks if needed. Often, our leveling system will lift one side of the tires off the ground, so we manually level it lower since we like our tires on the ground. It's an easy enough work around. Many people have this issue with the system we have.

• Once we are positioned, Anjuli chocks the tires and hooks up the electric and water while Bruce puts down the front landing gear and unhooks the truck. Once the truck is clear, we hit autolevel so that can get working while we finish up with the Starlink and gathering stuff from the truck. We usually wait until there is spare time later on to hook up the sewer.

• Bruce will bring Jordan to the campground playground, if there is one, or to whatever rocks are around for her to climb. Anjuli then goes inside and puts out the slides and sets up the few things we have to rearrange inside during travel.

• By that point, it is usually approaching dinner time, so we swap and Anjuli watches Jordan while Bruce cooks.

That about wraps it up. We got very efficient at this process during the course of this trip.
